How This came to be Through Life's movement called me In the midst of walking, talking, sitting, lying down Something called out for a depth of peace Asking to be seen while fearing reprisal All the "I will do it myself" that is revered Masks the underlying void withheld for a lifetime Steeped in combat, while yearning for peace Can I surrender? Can I trust a different way? Lets see where you take me All the while dragging one foot With an eye on the old way Flagrantly flailing about, groping for the switch While you, my beloved, wait patiently for me to peek Out from under a closed lid Stilling my cries with your gentle breeze Once I notice the touch on my cheek You have come at last and I am glad
